Dating
Cheryl breaks down what makes a good date and what is appropriate for the first date.
Nick: What's your ideal date situation?
Cheryl: What's my ideal date?
Nick: Well, I think I would want the guy first of all to make a plan for everything. He should plan the date, and not rely on me to make the suggestions because I think it's very nice and attractive when a guy makes the first move and makes the plans.
Secondly, I would probably want him to drive me around to the places, or would could go on public transportation together, as long as he has a plan it's OK.
And thirdly, he should pay for the date.
Nick: Pay for the date?
Cheryl: Yes, he should pay for the date because it is his pleasure to take out a girlon a date. Of course, the date should also be very fun. It should not be boring, and it should end with a kiss on the cheek if it goes well. If it doesn't go well, then the guy should behave respectfully and say goodbye.
Nick: Good luck finding a guy like that.
Cheryl: Thank you.
rely on
He should not rely on me.
When you rely on someone, you depend on that person to do something for you. You expect they will do it, and if they do not do it then you are disappointed or upset. Refer the following examples:
- I rely on my parents for financial support.
- He relies on his sister to do everything for him.
make the first move
He should make the first move.
When someone makes the first move, they initiate something. That means they start to do something both people want to happen, but both people are too shy to start. For example, for a couple's first kiss, one person needs to make the first move and try to kiss the other person. Notice the following:
- I was too nervous to make the first move so nothing happened.
- She made the first move and grabbed his hand.
take out a girl
It is his pleasure to take out a girl.
When you take someone out, that means you treat that person to an entertaining event or time away from home. Often this is dinner, a movie, or perhaps just a walk in the park. Usually, when you take someone out, you pay for them or treat them to something. Here are a few examples:
- Where did you he take you out for your first date?
- Can I take you out sometime?
go well
If it goes well, it will end in a kiss.
When something goes well, that means it was a good event. Everything happened as planned or had a good outcome. Notice the following:
- I hope your trips goes well.
- The meeting went well.
behave respectfully
The guy should behave respectfully
For a person to behave respectfully, they should be polite and act with good manners, and not be rude or impolite. Notice the following:
- You must behave respectfully in a temple.
- The boys were kicked out of class for not behaving respectfully.
