Easter Sunday
Joel
Easter is a holiday celebrated in March on the Sunday after the full moon, or on the Sunday after the first day of spring which I think is March 23rd. So it would be the Sunday after March 23rd.
Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That means the rebirth of Jesus Christ, when he was born again after his death. If you ask children, however, what Easter is all about, they will say that it is about Easter eggs and the Easter bunny. It’s interesting this tradition comes from a non-Christian source.
A long time ago when non-Christians would celebrate the springtime, there is a story of a bird who had a broken wing and a magician turned him into a rabbit so he would be able to survive the winter better. And this rabbit was still able to lay eggs like a bird. So now they celebrate the Easter Bunny during springtime and we—children paint eggs and adults hide them and the children have to go find the eggs and put them in their Easter basket.
resurrection
Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection
of Jesus Christ.
A 'resurrection' is when someone comes back to life after being dead. In Christianity the resurrection is when Jesus came back to life. Notice the following:
- I believe in the resurrection as I am Christian.
- Mary was the first one to discover the resurrection.
broken
There is a story of a bird who had a broken wing.
When something is 'broken' it means that it has been
damaged and is in need of repair. Many times when something
is broken it doesn't function in the way that it should.
Notice the following:
- I think I have might have broken my leg.
- Did you see your brother break my vase?
turn into
A magician turned him into a rabbit.
When somethings 'turns into' something it means that it
changes form and becomes something else.
Notice the following:
- Do you think that Jesus really did turn water into wine?
- If you study hard then you will turn into an intelligent
person.
survive
So he would be able to survive the winter better.
When you 'survive' something it means that you live through
something despite difficulties and obstacles.
Notice the following:
1. I do not know how long a human could survive without food and water.2. It would be very hard to survive in the desert.
lay eggs
This rabbit was still able to lay eggs like a bird.
When an animals 'lays eggs' it means that it produces an
egg out of which its young will hatch. The baby is not born
in live form, it is born in an egg and is cared for like
this until it hatches.
Notice the following:
- Chickens lay eggs that we can eat.
- I think fish lay eggs.
