Ngữ pháp Would

1. Cách sử dụng would trong câu đề nghị, mời ai đó làm gì

Đối với cách sử dụng would, chắc hẳn các bạn đã từng trông thấy nó xuất hiện ở câu đề nghị trong tiếng Anh. Dạng cấu trúc này nhằm hỏi ý kiến hoặc quan điểm của ai đó về 1 điều gì dó.

Cấu trúc would:

Would you mind + Ving

(Bạn có phiền không…?)

Ví dụ:

• Would you mind calling him immediately?

Bạn có phiền gọi cho anh ta ngay bây giờ không?

• Would you mind sending it to me?

Bạn có phiền gửi nó đến cho tôi không?

Cấu trúc would:

Would you like to do some thing?

Ví dụ:

• Would you like to play football with my class this morning?

Bạn có muốn chơi đá bóng với lớp tôi vào sáng nay không?

Bạn có muốn đến trường cùng tôi không?

• Would you like to use it?

Bạn có muốn sử dụng nó không?

2. Cách sử dụng Would để nói về thói quen trong quá khứ

Bên cạnh việc dùng cấu trúc used to nhằm nói về thói quen trong quá khứ thì chúng ta còn có một cách diễn đạt khác đó là sử dụng cấu trúc would.

Ví dụ:

• When i was younger i would go to pub with my friends.

Khi tôi còn trẻ, tôi thường đến quán pub với bạn bè của tôi.

• When he was still in love with his ex, he would come to her house.

Khi anh ta vẫn còn trong mối quan hệ với người yêu cũ của anh ta, anh ta thường đến nhà cô ấy.

3. Cách sử dụng Would đứng trước động từ

Nếu như would có vị trí trước động từ, would có thể được dùng nhằm diễn đạt một tình huống không thể xảy ra hoặc nói về sự tưởng tượng của một hành động nào đó.

Ví dụ:

• It would be bad if i couldn’t pass this exam.

Sẽ thật là tồi tệ nếu như tôi không thể vượt qua kì thi này.

• He would be very sad if she didn’t answer his questions.

Anh ta sẽ rất buồn nếu như cô ấy không trả lời những câu hỏi của anh ta.

Lưu ý: Would hoàn toàn có thể được viết dưới hình thức ‘d hoặc dạng phủ định wouldn’t

Ví dụ:

• It’d be nice to have a husband like him.

Có người chồng như anh ấy thì tuyệt.

• I told her so, but she wouldn’t do it.

Tôi đã nói cô ấy rồi, nhưng cô ấy không chịu làm điều đó.

– Cách sử dụng would rất đa dạng bởi vì cấu trúc này còn có thể dùng khi muốn nói đến một hành động đã không xảy ra ở trong quá khứ, một ai đó đã muốn làm gì nhưng không làm nó.

Ví dụ:

• I would have to send the report but my computer broke down.

Tôi sẽ phải gửi bản báo cáo nhưng máy tính của tôi bị hỏng.

• I would have to go to your party, but my father had called me.

Tôi đã muốn đến bữa tiệc của bạn, nhưng bố tôi đã gọi tôi.

– Ngoài ra, cấu trúc would cũng có thể đi cùng với if

Ví dụ:

• I would go to the restaurant if i have money.

Tôi sẽ đến nhà hàng nếu như tôi có tiền.

• Yesterday I would go over to my grandmother’s house if I had a break.

Hôm qua tôi sẽ qua nhà bà ngoại nếu tôi được nghỉ.
